APPLE PACKERS ROOM
PROGRAM AT TVCC

Here is an example of the types of weekly and daily programs we run here in the Apple Packers room.
BUG PAINTING!
APPLE PACKERS ROOM (STORYPARK)

The children have shown an interest in bugs so we have been incorporating bugs into some of our play experiences.
Today we have bug painting out. The children get to explore the different shapes/sizes of bugs and are enjoying counting there legs and wings.
This experience is great for numeracy learning as they get to count the different body parts on the bugs. It’s also great for creativity as the children get to design their own picture by choosing which colours they’d like to use and which different bugs they’d like to place on their masterpieces.
The children have also been provided with wet face washers to wash the bugs and their own hands which promotes self help skills and practicing hygiene.
WORMS IN THE DIRT
APPLE PACKERS ROOM (STORYPARK)
The children were amazed how spaghetti can look like worms especially when they turn brown. The children took their time in feeling the different textures from just playing with the sand to feeling the worms and then mixing the two together and feeling the sand on the worms and how each time the texture was different.

Each child that came to play and learn said "look at all the worms in the dirt"
"Look at how much I've grabbed"
"Worms are yucky" (after some tried them)

This was a good opportunity for the children to work on their fine motor skills aswell by squeezing the tongs to try to pick up the worms and seeing how many they could pick up at once. A few other children grabbed little spades and was covering the worms and then digging so they could find them just like in the garden..
